25th January, Town Hall:
This is the fifth year running we have held these awards and this time we topped the scales for issuing 35 awards to community members for their outstanding contribution to the Burngreave Community. A packed reception room at the Town Hall on saw the annual New Years Honours awards presented, with the Lord Mayor, Lady Mayoress, Richard Caborn and David Blunkett as guests of honour. Cllr Jackie Drayton hosted the event, with Cllrs Steve Jones and Ibrar Hussain. Award categories were:

The evening concluded with a very moving response and tribute to Mr Fazal Hussain by one of his daughters, Shamshad, on behalf of his wife, his wider family and the management committee. Congratulations to all and thank you!
