In addition to the monthly meetings this quarter, members of the buildings group made a very interesting and useful visit to Gibson mill near Hebden Bridge in March and to the Hockerton Housing Project near Newark on the 19th May. Reports of the visits and photographs are available in the BCAF office or from the area co-ordinators office.
We hosted a meeting with councillors on the 23rd April at Verdon St Recreation Centre about the lack of affordable housing in the area. It was well attended by residents but though all those standing for election to the city Coucil were invited, only Councillor Ibrar Hussain (Labour) and Maxine Bowler (Respect) attended. Chris Sissons (Green Party) sent his apologies and a letter stating his position as he was in London on the day. No other apologies were received.
