Description & overview:
Ellesmere Youth Project (EYP) is a well respected, neighbourhood youth work project in Burngreave, Sheffield. EYP started from St Peter's Church and became an independent charity in 2001.
The aim of the Project is to improve life opportunities for young people, aged 10-18, in particular to support their personal development and increase their aspirations. EYP aims to inspire young people to value themselves and others, improve their confidence and self-esteem and encourage them to reach their full potential. The ethos of EYP is to reach out to local young people by providing quality youth work activities and groups in which to foster relationships, build a sense of community and encourage the values of acceptance, respect, co-operation, equality and compassion.
Recent work has included -young women's & young men's groups; community youth club; developing work around sex and relationships; drama groups; outdoor activities; bike maintenance; various holiday activities (art and craft, games, sports, trips etc); involving young people in environmental improvements and detached youth work.
Our focus is on building long-term, quality relationships with young people and also on encouraging young people's participation in the planning and evaluation of our work
