We wish to report and complain over the sad and disgusting state of Burngreave Cemetery Pitsmoor, due mainly through to lack of maintenance.
We think it is a absolute disgrace to see trees growing in the centre of graves over where the bodies have been interned, some of these trees as much as four feet in height whilst brambles some up to one inch in diameter, all giving a general uncared appearance.
We have had over many years to take a pair of shears to cut the grass around our parents grave and surrounding area as the grass is cut so rarely.
When we have visited other cemeteries in Sheffield, to name a few Crookes, Abbey Lane, City Road and Hutcliffe Road. A total difference, all seem to be well maintained and have taken a pride in their appearance unlike Burngreave.
Why has the cemetery in Pitsmoor deteriated so much and not been looked after like the others, do we have to forget our loved ones buried there just because someone just cannot be bothered to look after the place.
We look forward to your comments,
Yours sincerely
Audrey & John Abraham
