Parkwood - Academy proposals

Parkwood High School and Sheffield City Council are promoting a change to see Parkwood become an independent school with “Academy” status.

This page contains links to articles and documents about the process. See below for:

Following the parents' vote in favour of a change towards an Academy, the Council approved it at the meeting of 10th December.

However, the Government has since announced an investigation into allegations of irregularities at Edutrust, the proposed sponsor. This may be finished later in the year; meanwhile some local authorities have suspended plans for Academies in their area.

The Anti-Academies Campaign

Anti-Academies campaigners have also been busy, with a public meeting held on Thursday 28th February at Shirecliffe Community Centre at 7pm.

New Buildings

New buildings have been promised - if the school votes to become an Academy.
