Parkwood High School and Sheffield City Council are promoting a change to see Parkwood become an independent school with “Academy” status.

Parkwood - Academy proposals
Following the parents' vote in favour of a change towards an Academy, the Council approved it at the meeting of 10th December.
However, the Government has since announced an investigation into allegations of irregularities at Edutrust, the proposed sponsor. This may be finished later in the year; meanwhile some local authorities have suspended plans for Academies in their area.

As part of the “Building Schools for the Future” programme, a draft planning brief has been prepared to guide the redevelopment of the Parkwood High School, to be funded through the school being awarded academy status.

Parents have voted by over 2 to 1 in favour of Parkwood School becoming an Academy, but on a low turnout.
