The Newspaper
The printed Messenger is produced every 2 months, and volunteers are involved in every part of putting it together. For more information see Volunteering for the Messenger.
The Website
The Messenger website has up-to-date news, archives of stories and extras.
We need your help to manage the website and keep it up-to-date.
If you'd like to get involved with the website, or have something you'd like to see published on-line, then please get in touch.
The website can support content in a number of languages – so if you can write Somali, Arabic, Urdu or any other locally used language, then we'd like you to get involved.
What can you do?
Write a news story – see our guidelines for writing a story.
Send information about activities and events happening locally.
Help us put the Messenger online.
Add content yourself about activities and events you or your group are doing.
Submit your own creative work for publication, including any creative writing, photography, artwork, videos and animation!
Add comments to articles online
Training
The Messenger can provide you with training so you can add content to the website. Then you can either help us put the issue online or to add you own content. No web design skills needed! But if you are interested in web design, we’d love to hear from you.
How volunteering could help you
Being a volunteer for the Messenger website could increase your skills and job prospects by:
Learning how to publish content to the web
Giving you experience of managing websites
Developing your writing and editing skills
Your own FREE webspace
All website volunteers can have their own section of the Messenger website to use as their personal space – and we will show you how to maintain it. It can offer a place for you to publish your own stories, articles, photographs and creative writing, and we would welcome the addition of video and audio content.
Adding comments
Even if you cannot spare the time to help us manage the website, you can still contribute – sign up for an account with the website and your add comments to articles.
