Handful of Henna

Sheffield Theatres treated Burngreave to free performances of a Handful of Henna in February, funded by New Deal. So many people came to the first event at the Vestry Hall, that a second performance was arranged. The project was part of a community tour which included performances at Pye Bank and Firs Hill schools.

Four local primary schools now have new extended school support workers. Extended schools means more activities in schools for parents, children and the community, from computer courses to breakfast clubs to belly dancing to keep fit. Evidence shows if you get involved with schools, your children will do better. Rest in Peace, Jonathan

Students raise refugee awareness

A host of special events took place in Refugee Week (16th – 22nd June 2007) at Fir Vale School as students aimed to raise awareness across the city of refugee issues, as well as promoting understanding about the reasons why people seek sanctuary.

Bombay Mix

On Thursday the 21st of June, ‘Bombay Mix’ – a bright , colourful event – took place at the Crucible theatre. Many people took part in a performance of dance, music, art and drama created by children from different Sheffield schools.
