Pakistan Independence day unites cultures

A local takeaway and restaurant owner helped Page Hall residents celebrate Pakistan Independence Day by giving away free food and drink. Mr Mohammed Akram, owner of the ‘Eastern Eye’, is a firm believer in uniting the different cultures in Page Hall. He explained:

“I have been here at the Eastern Eye takeaway for more than twenty years, I came to this country in 1966. I want all people to live together peacefully in the community, and having celebration days is a good way to achieve this. I feed the homeless at Christmas too.”

Pakistan Independence Day is observed annually on 14th August.
