Local charity, SAGE Greenfingers is about more than just gardening. Over the autumn, we have been on some exciting and interesting day trips. In October, Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet provided us with an amazing free taster opportunity for some of our members to have a go at blacksmithing, where they learnt how to create their own steel hooks. On Halloween, our women-only group took a trip to Ecclesall Woods, where they carved Halloween pumpkins, sewed felt owls and walked through the woods collecting chestnuts to roast at home.

More recently, our Tuesday group went on a trip to the RSPB Old Moor Nature Reserve, where they braved the cold weather and sat bird watching around the lake and came across various species of bird, as well as dragonflies.
