One evening in October, Fir Vale Academy celebrated the achievement of students present and past with a light and sound show that transported the audience through the school’s amazing fifteen years of success. The school’s sports hall was packed with current and former students,
parents, staff, governors and special guests who warmly applauded the awards and achievements of the returning Year 11s. Special guests for the evening were Mr Saad Ali, one of Fir Vale’s successful former students who gave an inspirational talk to students and parents, and the Master Cutler of Sheffield Mr Richard Edwards, vice chair of governors, who highlighted the exciting Cutler’s work experience projects.
An amazing musical performance from the Year 7 Show Choir showcased ‘When I Grow Up’ from the musical Matilda which added to the evening’s atmosphere. The evening included an inspirational film highlighting former students who have gone on to inspiring careers. The top award of the evening was presented to Aqeel Hussain (former Head Boy) who achieved a stunning 13 A* and A grades, one of the best ever recorded by a Fir Vale student and ranked as one of the top scores across the City of Sheffield.
