On Saturday as a special treat a delegation of children, families and volunteers from Pitsmoors award winning adventure playground benefited from visiting the Arena and watched the big match between Sheffield Steelers and Manchester Storm.

John Campbell the Unison Branch Secretary kindly arranged the trip after visiting the playground.

John said “Throughout the winter I have visited the adventure playground on numerous occasions and observed large numbers of children and adults participating in litter picks, cooking classes, fire and road safety sessions and thought a trip to the ice hockey would be a nice surprise for families.”

Mike O’Connor Commercial Manager from the Sheffield Steelers said ” As a community club it was great to host the 50 visitors from Pitsmoor Adventure Playground, the families arrived with a massive colorful handmade banner to cheer on the team and their chants could be heard throughout the arena.”

Patrick Meleady Charity Manager said ” Our families had a fabulous night cheering on our super Steelers and we are very fortunate here in Sheffield to have some fantastic individuals and organisations that strive to support our communities.” Patrick added ” Many thanks to everyone at Unison and the Sheffield Steelers for making so many families proud of their contributions to Pitsmoor and helping us to put the pride back into Sheffield, its very much appreciated.”

Harry aged 6 said ” I liked Steeler Dan the best coz he kept falling over when he danced.”
