Youth get bowled over

Story and photo by Michael Wright

A group of young people aged 8 to 14 come together at the Sheffield Indoor Cricket Centre to learn the great sport of cricket.

Atif who has been the coach for the past year says that joining the cricket club has helped children to become more confident and responsible. Some children who had been having issues at school became more engaged and participated fully during their cricket practice.

Some children have been going for four years and love to practice as much as possible, playing in other cricket clubs and gaining high places in the Sheffield School cricket league.

Overall, the participants derive great satisfaction from receiving expert guidance in improving their talents in a fun and enjoyable environment.

The cricket club is held on Saturdays, 2-4pm at 402, Petre St, S4 8LU and there is a small charge. Call 07769 585 890 for more information.
