Dance to Health is a new programme for older people running in both Burngreave and, from March 21st, at Firvale Community Hub. The programme, for women only, is free and will run for the next six months. Each session combines physiotherapy with the energy and creativity of movement, helping to improve strength and balance.

Dance to Health also provides an opportunity to meet up with people in your area as the session includes a 30 minute break where everybody can sit and have a drink and a chat.

“It is great to get some exercise as well as meet new people.”

The sessions, part of a programme to prevent falls, are being held at Verdon Recreation Centre (Verdon Street, S3 9QS) on Thursdays from 10am – 12pm, and in the Firvale Community Hub (127 Page Hall Road, S4 8GU) from Wednesday 21st March, 1.15pm – 3.15pm.

Dance to Health is a pioneering older people’s falls prevention dance programme developed by Aesop, an arts charity and social enterprise. It is being run by a partnership between them, the Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group and Yorkshire Dance
