Caution guides at work

Next summer the St Catherine’s guides are joining forces with guides and rangers from Wise Wood and Stocksbridge for a trip of a life time to Switzerland.

Tesco’s at Saville Street have been wonderful and have allowed us into their store to pack customers bags once a month. The girls really enjoy doing this as in addition to raising the money they need to pay for the trip it gives them the chance to speak to customers and explain why they are doing it. Not everyone agrees with the reason the children are there, however without the fund raising many would not be able to go.

I have run the Switzerland trips every two years since 2009. Over 100 girls from the Burngreave area have had the privilege to go.

Next year’s trip will include tobogganing, high ropes course up a mountain, lots of visits to interesting places and many cable car rides. On our way back we will be stopping off at Disneyland Paris for another fun filled day.

We could not do these trips without the support of our parents and Tesco. So if you see us in Tesco come and say hello. St Catherine’s guides meet on Wednesday evenings in term time, and is open to all girls aged five to eighteen. For further information visit or ring me on 07863 890 144.

We want your feed back!

We’d love to hear from more of Burngreave’s people about how they think the Burngreave Messenger could best serve the community, so we’ve created an opportunity for you to tell us what you’d like us to do.
