As reported elsewhere in the Messenger, your councillors have been keen to help set up a local Universal Credit Working Group. Last year, we agreed that we would ‘work with partners to mitigate the impact of welfare reforms’ as the first of our area priorities and this group is a key part of doing just that. We cannot let our deprived community lose out again because of a lack of resources. The next meeting will be held at the Rock Christian Centre, 179 Spital Hill (the former library building), from 9.30-12.30 on 12th January.
