The fourth Ramadan Volleyball tournament was held at Verdon Recreational Centre and organised by the newly formed community amateur sports club Burngreave Hope Volleyball Club (BHVC).
This tournament is now an annual feature in the Burngreave area calendar. Many of the volleyball and sports supporters within the community participated this year. We also had participants from different areas as well as other cities. The last day of the event was followed by a community Iftar which was open to
everyone. BHVC is a newly formed club founded on breaking barriers to get all the community together regardless of their race, religion, background, age, etc. The club hopes to unite the community and mix between youth and elders to channel their energy in a positive, productive and healthy way.
Aden Union were the crowned champions for 2019 tournament. They were worthy winners of this year’s tournament and produced excellent and consistent performances. A dinner party was held in honour of the champions on Sunday 9th June.
There were also strong performances from Altelal, last year’s champions, Helal Lasbor, Aden Port, Al Qaloah, The Castle, Dadez and Evacuation (Al Galla).
The trophy for most valuable player (MVP) went to Helal Lasboor attacker, Salah Al Nood. The ideal team trophy was awarded to Aden Port
and the ideal player trophy was won by Gamal Al Makmahi. We would like to thank our sponsors of local businesses for their generous donations which helped fund the tournament this year.
BHVC would like to invite all members of the community to our weekly sessions on Thursday to help you become a champion regardless of winning the tournament or not.
