Children and families enjoyed fun in the sun in early June as Eid celebrations took over at Sheffield’s award winning Pitsmoor Adventure Playground.

The barbecue celebrations took place as a direct result from a request by a group of children and their families who wanted their first barbecue of 2019 to be for Eid.

Parents and children attended from across our diverse city and they brought along a variety of food to share whilst they enjoyed dancing and an array of games. It was clear that everyone had a fun afternoon, with local resident Sarah telling us:

“Laughter could be heard from Abbeyfield to Spital Hill.”

Hands, 8, agreed, saying:

“I liked the food it was delicious. I had cous cous.”

Patrick Meleady, playground manager, said:

“Our community is one that cares and shares and over the last few weeks families have enjoyed several festivals including International Roma Day, May Day and the Big Lunch. Pitsmoor is a wonderful place to work, visit or play in.”
