On Tuesday 28th May, a ‘pond dipping’ session took place at Crabtree Ponds, held by Sheffield Wildlife Trust.
Pond dipping involves dipping a net into the pond and drawing it out to see what insects and wildlife are there.
A good number of people attended, many from St James Church. Children took part very enthusiastically, even though they managed to capture more leaves than living creatures. We had a quiz to look for pictures around the venue of slugs, snails, ladybirds and other creatures. Irritatingly, some of the children did much better at it than me! All in all, an enjoyable experience for everyone concerned.
