Story by Patrick Moran

Not only does Christian Vernon work with young people at risk of exclusion from school, he also volunteers his time to run a football team for young people at the weekends.

A team of young people from the Page Hall, Grimesthorpe and Pitsmoor area meet and train with him each week.

He is working with 10 young people who are interested in improving their football skills and maybe even joining a league.

When young people get involved in organised sport it helps them in so many ways. They learn self-discipline and teamwork and engage better with their education and the wider community.
