The Burngreave Messenger under new management

Burngreave Messenger under new management

Story by Polly Perkins.

It’s ALL CHANGE at the Burngreave Messenger following our Emergency General Meeting (EGM) on the 2nd of December. After over a decade of involvement, the Board of Trustees all stepped down and voted in a diverse new Interim Board to manage the charity.

The Burngreave Messenger has had a challenging few years, with many a crisis getting in the way of operations and having just a single member of staff to run the project hasn’t helped the charity to secure the funding we need and deserve.

With Colette Wymer joining the team to job share the project manager, distributing and editing roles with me and a new board of clever clogs media, community and youth work experts, alongside the continuity, skill and guidance provided by our stalwart designer Jamie Marriott, I am really excited about what the future holds for this wonderful little charity that I have fallen in love with.

Thanks for all the encouragement, support and patience while we’ve been relaunching, post lockdown. It has been really tough and really wonderful, too. HUGE thanks to both the outgoing, and the incoming, trustees for labours past, present and future!

At the moment our urgent need is to find the funding to continue after April 2022. While we’re chasing that, we’ll also be reviewing all the other policies, procedures and plans and bringing the Burngreave Messenger Ltd up to date, so that we can best meet the needs of beautiful Burngreave.
