It’s child’s play for a team of volunteers

Jeld-Wen staff team with Patrick Meleady

A team of staff from Jeld-Wen, a manufacturer of wooden doors, windows and stairs, took a day out to visit Pitsmoor Adventure Playground and help make a big difference to the local community.

The team took on practical tasks to help get the site ready for a busy summer ahead. Importantly, they got to find out about how the charity is vital to local Burngreave people without a safe outdoor, living space, by providing open access play, support, education and food to local children and their families at its fun-filled adventure playground.

“It was a hugely rewarding day” said Stefan Fox, Jeld-Wen Health and Safety Manager who used carpentry skills to build safety features to play structures.

“It was great to find out about the charity and the fantastic work they do-for the community. I was proud that we all played a small part to help make a difference.”

Patrick Meleady, Pitsmoor Adventure Playground CIO charity manager, was delighted with the efforts of the team:

“I can’t thank the team enough. We’re a small charity with so much to do on the site and the help was very much appreciated. The tasks completed would have taken us weeks to do on our own.”
