Burngreave children have been busy celebrating after harvesting a bumper crop of spring onions. The Pitsmoor Adventure Playground team were recipients of training from the Royal Horticultural Society on how to grow vegetables as part of its grey to green initiative and secured compost from a donation from proceeds of crime from South Yorkshire Police.
Ollie aged 10 said:
“ I enjoyed planting the seeds and watering the soil, the onions are really big not like in the shop.”
Patrick Meleady charity manager said:
“The training we received from the RHS was first class and we loved sharing our learning with our families on how to grow healthy vegetables. The kind donation of compost for our raised beds from South Yorkshire Police was really useful and we shared the compost out with participants.”
