Residents have been busy working hard to clean up the streets and surrounding area of litter as part of ‘Burngreave Spring Clean Week’. The event started on 4th March and continues until the 11th, with something to take part in almost every day of the week.
Burngreave Spring Clean Week is organised by a group of local people. A community conference about rubbish took place on Saturday 4th March, followed by A BIG BURNGREAVE CLEAN UP on Sunday 5th of March all day to clear front yards, gardens and streets. Everyone is urged to join together with your neighbours to clean up your street and to let let the group know your plans. They would like to hear from local people, community groups, faith groups, schools and agencies who would like to JOIN IN. You can visit and join the group of Facebook to find out more about what is happening in the area, or get in touch with organisers Burngreave Environmental Action NOW (BEAN) at beanburngreave@gmail.com.
Hopefully it will an annual event, but organiser and regular litter picker Karen Malone puts it best when she says:
“Let’s not only have a clean Burngreave for a week, let’s keep it clean and be proud.”
