Friends of Burngreave Cemetery Weekly meeting
The friends of Burngreave Cemetery meet every Sunday between 11am and 3.00 pm to help visitors locate particular graves. There is a permanent display of information and photographs about the history of the cemetery and some of those interred there. Also installations by the artist in residence – Victoria Smith.

Join Dead Earnest Theatre at the ‘Veiled Voyages’ mahfil – a traditional creative gathering from South Asia – and hear the stories of Muslim women from India and Pakistan recounting their experiences of travelling to the UK between 1900 and 1947.

Men in Sheffield are being given the opportunity to discover or re-kindle a love for sport and physical activity with the new Sporting Chance project which launched recently in the city. The project is being run by Volunteering Matters who manage more than 180 volunteering programmes across the country, engaging over 30,000 volunteers along the way.
Sporting Chance aims to reach men who are 50+ and who are wanting in increase their physical activity, make new friends and widen their social circles, getting fitter and having fun at the same time. Men are welcome to attend from all areas of the city.
The project is supported by The Peoples Postcode Lottery. Sporting Chance are also looking for men who might like to volunteer for the project too, please get in touch if you would like to be involved. Sessions are run by qualified instructors and sessions currently running include;
- Verdon Street Recreation centre – Burngreave, Multisports, Mondays 10-12 starting on Sept 11th.

Pitsmoor Adventure Playground is now run by a charitable organisation set up by local people, and is as popular as it’s ever been. Qualified staff are on site during opening hours to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for local children and their parents.
Who is it for?
The playground is for children up to 13 years old. Children aged 8 and over are free to come and go. Children aged 6 and 7 may attend unsupervised if accompanied by a child aged 8 or over. Children under 6 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
The playground is located on the corner of Melrose Road and Burngreave Street, Pitsmoor, Sheffield S3 9DN
Martial arts classes led by Graham Abdullah, former European champion.
Every Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings throughout the year.
For children and adults from age 5 years and upwards.
